Domaine des Accoles in Privas – Surprising wines of Ardèche

Posted by

Of course, Ardeche is less popular than other regions of our C’est si Bon friends when it comes to wines. But, our region hides true gems and delicious surprises. In Privas, we discovered, 2 minutes driving from Ardèche Camping, a cellar run by 2 young and friendly winegrowers, Olivier and Florence, the Domaine des Accoles. They produce delicious white, red and rosé wines.

Accoles means “terraces” in Occitan language. This domain spreads on a 21 hectares vineyard, on the village of Saint-Marcel d’Ardèche in the IGP Ardèche (Protected Geographical Indication). After their studies in Bordeaux and Dijon, Olivier and Florence had a 13 years experience on a vineyard in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in Burgundy. Even if Burgundy is a real paradise when you love wine but Olivier and Florence had their roots in Rhone Valley so they decided to move in Ardèche and bought a house in Privas. After a while discovering the wines of Ardèche, they bought a vineyard in Saint-Marcel d’Ardèche in 2010. That was the beginning of the Domaine des Accoles. Since this date, they run the domain and produce organic wines without pesticides or synthetic fertilizer.

9 wines of Ardèche to be tasted

With their experience in BUrgundy and on other vineyards, Olivier and Florence are now working to value these Ardeche country wines. These wines are produced from manual harvests.

They now produce 9 wines with the organic certification. These wines are a real journey into the Ardèche soil.

The white wines

For the white wines, Olivier and Florence can offer you the Inattendu made with Carignan Gris, Recto-Verso made with Grenache and Clairette and Les 4 Faïsses made with Chardonnay. Three delicious white wines that suits perfectly the Ardèche goat cheeses.

The red wines

The red wines are tasty red wines with a southern accent. These are the Rendez-vous des Acolytes, with Grenache, the Cab’ des Acolytes, with Cabernet – Sauvignon, Gryphe with Carignan, Miocène with Grenache – Carignan or la Chapelle, a subtile mix of old vines of Grenache and Carignan with slight touches of Cabernet and Syrah.

Rosé wine

Because rosé wine is a important part of camping holidays, ther has to be a rosé wine at the Domaine des Accoles. The Rosé des Acolytes, is a blend of Grenache and Cabernet – Sauvignon. It is a perfect companion for grilled meat or Ardèche delicatesse. Perfect for your apéritifs and barbecues at the campsite.
